How to Use the Sirona Menstrual Cup
Before your cycle begins, submerge your cup in boiling water for 3 to 5 minutes to completely sterilize it. Let it cool before handling. Always wash your hands thoroughly with unscented soap before touching the cup.
Flatten the rim of the cup and fold it to reduce its insertion size. Try the C-Fold (folding the cup in half to form a ‘C’ shape) or the Punch-Down Fold (pushing one side of the rim down into the base of the cup to create a smaller, tapered point).
Relax your pelvic floor muscles. Squat, sit on the toilet, or raise one leg. Guide the folded cup back and down toward the tailbone (not straight up). Once fully inside, let go—the cup will pop open. Gently rotate the base of the cup or run a clean finger around the rim to ensure it has opened completely and formed a vacuum seal.
Wash your hands. Gently pull the stem only to locate the base of the cup. Do not pull the cup out by the stem alone, as this creates painful suction. Instead, pinch the ribbed base of the cup firmly to release the vacuum seal, then gently wiggle it side-to-side as you slide it out.
