Use of Honey in Skincare: How to Use Honey in Your Skin Care Routine

Since ancient times, I’ve heard about the various benefits of honey. It is a versatile ingredient in skincare, health, and hospitality. Honey is rich in magnesium, phosphate, iron, calcium, glucose, potassium, and many other essential elements. There are two types of honey: flower honey and honey from bees. Among these, the demand for honey from bees, especially the bitter varieties, is higher. Today, let’s learn about the use of honey in skincare.

For Acne Treatment:

Honey contains antibacterial properties that are effective in treating acne problems. Mix one teaspoon of honey and half a teaspoon of cinnamon together. Then apply this mixture to the affected area with cotton and leave it on for 10 minutes. Rinse it off thoroughly. This mixture also reduces excessive redness around the acne.

As Hair Pack:

Mix two parts honey and one part olive oil (or any other oil according to preference) in a bowl. Apply this mixture evenly on the upper and lower parts of the hair. Optionally, you can add raw egg white and onion juice to this pack. Tie your hair up and leave it on for 30 minutes before shampooing. Your hair will become stronger, silkier, and brighter.

For Dry Lips:

A drop of raw honey is enough for dry and lifeless lips. Apply honey to the lips at least once a day using your fingers or a cotton swab. After 10-15 minutes, wipe it off with a damp cloth or soak it in lukewarm water. No need to wash off if you don’t feel any discomfort.

Facial Mask:

Honey is an excellent ingredient to clean the accumulated dust and dirt on our faces regularly. Regular use of market scrubs can cause various damages to the skin. So, prepare a mixture of one tablespoon of honey and one tablespoon of oats, massage it well onto your face, then rinse it off with warm water. If oats are not available, you can use rice flour instead. This mask will clean the dead cells of your skin, remove blackheads, and rejuvenate your skin.

Brightening Skin:

Mix one tablespoon of honey, one teaspoon of yogurt, and a little lemon juice together and apply it on your face using a face brush. For those who have allergies, it’s better to avoid lemon. After 20 minutes, wash it off. Apply this mixture regularly to brighten your skin. You can also use this mixture on your neck, elbows, and feet to achieve bright and glowing skin. In that case, increase the quantity of the mixture.

Small Tips:

1. Use honey from reputable brands for better results.
2. If allergic to bee honey, you can use flower honey (from flowers you’re not allergic to).
3. Eating honey alongside applying it to the skin can yield better results. Every morning, you can consume a mixture of lukewarm water with a little lemon and honey or green tea mixed with honey. This will not only make your skin beautiful but also reduce abdominal fat and relieve various health problems.
4. Store honey in clean, airtight containers; no need to refrigerate.
